Travelogue: long weekend in Quebec City

Citadelle, fine arts museum, aquarium, waterfall, patisseries, and best of all, it's Canada.

Travelogue: long weekend in Quebec City

Last month I ran away to Canada, which is not very difficult to do if you live in Maine like I do. Normally I’m running away to Nova Scotia because I have family there, but this time my husband and I decided to take a long weekend in Quebec City, Quebec. He had been there many years ago on some school trips with our sons, but I had not been. I knew that the city was very old in a truly French-speaking province, and therefore I expected it to feel very different from Maine. However, once there I felt like I was a world away, not just five-ish hours’ drive.

The city is so, SO beautiful. We rented a little apartment on Rue Couillard, which is right in downtown Quebec City, a short walk to everything. It was on the third floor of a building that was originally built in the 1800s, had burned in the 1940s, and then been rebuilt in some combo of art deco and mid century modern style. Here’s a quick video I took of the apartment interior.
